Chartwells’ Dining specializes in serving catered events, from the small coffee get together to the full banquet.
For your convenience, we have put together frequently requested and popular menu items in this brochure. These menu items are just a sampling of what we can offer. Let us suggest menu selections and service style. We are more than happy to work with you, and develop a catering menu specifically designed to meet your needs.

Welcome to Saint Mary’s University! This guide details the functions and capabilities of the Food Service Catering Department at Saint Mary’s University. The complete range of service is not limited to the selections listed in this manual. We will meet all the unique needs of each individual group. Let us tailor a menu to suit your theme or occasion!
Please follow the guidelines below when placing a catering order. If you need additional information, call the Catering Office at 507-457-1655. Our staff is pleased to participate in the coordination and planning of your event.
Please give us the time we need to prepare for your event. In order to accommodate your needs, a sufficient amount of time is requested. Orders for refreshment breaks should be placed with the Catering Office five (5) business days before the event. Orders for meals and receptions should be placed no less than ten (10) working days before the event. Your menu must be finalized five (5) business days prior to the function.
Arrangements made within two days of an event will require an additional surcharge of 10% and may result in limited food selections.
University Sponsored Events, please sign and return the Catering Contract to the Dining Services office 24 hours in advance (fax 507-457-1657). If you are billing to a University Account, Dining Services must receive the number and a signed contract before the day of the event.
Checks, cash or an authorized purchase order may be used to pay for your catered event. Non-University sponsored groups may be requested to provide a 50% deposit one week prior to the event. An invoice for the remaining balance will be provided to you at the conclusion of your event, with payment in full required at that time. Sales Tax (currently 6 1/2% for food and 9% for liquor) will be added to all catering. To Place an Order Call 507-457-1655.
Health Regulations prohibit leftovers to be taken after a catered event. Please leave all catering equipment in the room of the event.
On Campus. There is no delivery charge for events delivered to on-campus facilities totaling $25.00 or more. A delivery charge of $10.00 will be applied to orders under $25.00. For meal service with china and linen outside the Toner Center, set fees may apply.
Off Campus. For deliveries off-campus there is a minimum order of $100.00. The delivery charge will be calculated on the size and distance of the event. Arrangements may also be made to pick up an order at the Dining Services Office in the Toner Center.
You will be billed on the basis of a guaranteed minimum number unless the guests present exceed the guaranteed number. Food and Beverages must be provided by Chartwells Dining Service. Arrangements for banquets must be confirmed, changed or cancelled five (5) business days in advance. No tipping is required.
One and one-half hours of service are normally provided for catering meals. If there is to be a program during the meal, please notify the Catering Office when making service arrangements. If service needs are beyond the maximum service hours, there will be a $10.00 per hour, per-attendant service charge.
Linen Tablecloths and Napkins are available for any function that does not include food. There is a charge of $.75 per linen napkin with many colors available with advance notice. A charge of $3.00 per tablecloth will be applied if delivery and setup are required. Pickup from the Dining Services office will be charged at the rate of $3.00 per table cover. There is a charge of $10.00 per cloth if not returned. Additional Table Drapes may be requested. A charge of $5.00 will be applied for each table covered and draped.
Water Setup is available for conferences, lectures and meetings at $.50 per person. There is a minimum service charge of $5.00.
Décor and Special Effects may be used to enhance your function. Prices available upon request.
